The story of the Davino winery starts in 1997 when owner Dan Balaban made his first wine, being one of the pioneers of the Romanian wine industry after 1989.
Together with his winemaker, he emerged in an adventure that established the winery among the most appreciated in the country. The winery started with only 4 hectars of vines and today they have over 87 hectars under production. The oenologist Bogdan Costachescu joined the team in 1998 and today still creates great wines at Davino. The main cultivated grapes include local varieties (Fetească Albă, Fetească Neagră) and international ones (Italian Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot).
A new microwinery was completed in 2017, heping them to reach their main goal: ‘to produce one of the best Romanian wine’. Their main labels include Monogram or Plai, while the flagship wines are the Revelatio White and complex red as Flamboyant.
